Few
choices will have as great an impact on a child as the best-informed
choice of a school, college, or special needs program. School choice
is about academics and so much more; it's about growth -- academic,
social, artistic, athletic,
and emotional. It is also about your vision for your child and,
yes, it's about money.
A
consultant helps to remove the mystery, anxiety and confusion from
the admissions process by involving you and your student in a focused,
comprehensive, and timely manner.
As
a trained professional possessing comprehensive knowledge of placement
options, an educational consultant can act as guide, interpreter,
and facilitator throughout the entire school selection process.
Knowing
your child well, the consultant can formulate a customized list
of appropriate school options, one of which will be the "best
match". He can then point out specifics about each school such
as admissions criteria, student-teacher ratio, dorm arrangements,
academic and extra-curricular activities and various other characteristics
of the student body and school community which aid you in your decision.
An
IECA member who has earned the CEP designation, I
am qualified to recognize the strengths of each school, college
or program that is most appropriate for your student's needs. Through
workshops, visits to schools, colleges and programs as well as visits
at my office with admissions officers, I stay "up to date"
on the mission, quality, personality, and type of students in each
school as represented by its administrators, faculty, counselors,
and academic requirements.
The
search process can be undertaken at any time; however, begin
early is the by-word in order to achieve the best results.
The
experience should be informative and pleasant rather than stressful.
In order that it be successful, I guide you to view the process
as one of discovery. Clients often bring pre-conceptions, pre-conditions,
unclear objectives, conflicting desires and financial, social, or
personal concerns to the process. This is to be expected; but, working
together, we will reach your goal.
The
desired result is that you choose the best school, college, or special
needs program from several appropriate alternatives. In the end,
your family will feel confident that you've made the right
choice for your student's future for the right reasons.
The
confidentiality of the counseling/family relationship will be honored
in all regards.
