For all their differences, today's colleges and universities have several things in common: increased admissions requirements (primarily academic), fast-rising tuition, little institutional control over students, and an almost self-conscious concern for diversity. Most colleges offer good to outstanding preparation in many major fields; however, your student should become acquainted with those institutions that offer the best preparation in their specific area of interest. In addition, size, location, social involvement and campus atmosphere are all important when considering where the next four years will be spent. A crucial consideration is the total cost and the possiblity of various forms of financial aid.

Sometimes your student and family feel the need for more personal attention than the school college advisor can provide. I offer that extra ingredient which makes the difference between a pleasant experience leading to a gratifying result and one that is stressful and unsatisfactory.

My college placements span the spectrum of student needs, be they traditional, academic, or special needs. I am committed to helping you and your student make the very best college choice. It is my responsibility not only to provide information but also to challenge your student to consider all appropriate possibilities, playing devil's advocate in order to broaden the discussion. The student's responsibility is to "do the work" in order to be able to make an independent judgement based on hard facts.
