CEP is the professional designation of the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners. Fewer than 300 educational consultants have earned this credential; I was elected in April, 1997, the first date that CEP's were named, and have been re-accredited until 2007.

Recipients must satisfy stringent requirements in the following areas:

  • Having a masters or better degree
  • Number of schools, colleges, and programs visited
  • Number of students successfully placed
  • Continuing in-field education (IECA and other professional conferences)
  • Community presentations
  • Expertise through membership in relevant associations, leadership in the counseling profession, and books and articles published
  • CEPs must be re-accredited every five years, and this requires evidence of fulfilling all of the criteria listed above.
  • Pledging to adhere to the AICEP Principles of Good Practice.
